Ich habe den experimental auslauf abwechslungsweise an die linke und an die
rechte lasius niger kolonie angeschlossen. ich habe futter im neuen auslauf platziert wie reagieren die ameisen auf mehr platz? auf den duft der anderen kolonie? |
I have connected the experimental area to one lasius niger colony and then to the other.
i have placed food in the new area. how do the ants react to the new area? and to the smell of the other colony? |

experiment -> auslauf mit fremd duft -- area with smell of the other colony Date:17.8.001 die rechte kolonie hatte 10 tage lang zugang zum auslauf. nun riecht der auslauf nach "rechter kolonie"! ---- the right colony had 10 days access to the new area. now the area smells like "the right colony" LEFT COLONY zeit-time 18.45::start (connecting the area) 19.00::eine im schlauch -- 1 worker in the connection tube. 19.24::eine im auslauf -- 1 worker in the area (blue) 7.25::erste markiert -- first worker marked 22.00:: 10 worker 23.00::14 worker Notitz: Der verbindungs-schlauch war das haupt hindernis da er am meisten nach "rechter kolonie" roch. sie stellten also wachen an der grenze auf. nur eine stiess for. die habe ich aber rausgenommen um sie zu markieren. habe sie aber nie wieder gesehen. lange zeit ist keine weitere ameise in die arena vorgedrungen. sie haben begonnen abfall an der grenze zu lagern. Note: The connection tube is the main obstacle because it has a strong "right colony"-smell. the placed guards at the border of the territory. only one ant went on in the area. but i have picked her out and marked her. for a long time no other ant accesssed the experimental area. they have put waste 2 cm over the border line. |
experiment -> gereinigter auslauf -- cleaned experimental area Date:7.8.001 RIGHT COLONY zeit-time 18.45::start (connecting the area) 19.39::eine im auslauf -- 1 worker in the area (blue) 20.04::recruitment -- rekrutierung 20.04::2 worker 20.14::4 worker 20.53::23 worker Notitz: erstaundlicherweise zetzten sie tandem laufen ein. diese rekrutierung erfolgte zwischen dem nest ausgang und dem eingang zum verbindungs schlauch zum experimentier auslauf. eine ameise lief immer hin und her und holte eine ameise vom nest ausgang und leitete sie zum schlauch. zuerst gibt es intensiven fühler kontakt dan läuft sie voraus und die andere hintendrein. nach 15 sec hatte sie 5 ameisen die vor dem schlauch eingang warteten! danach lief sie durch den schlauch in die arena. nicht alle folgten ihrer duftspur rasch. Note: lasius niger used tandem running i did not know that. they used this kind of recruitment between the nest entrance and the connection tube to the experimental area. the ant which has been out in the experimental area runs to the nestentrance and conducts one ant at the time to the tube. first strong antennae contact then the ant follows right behind her leader. after 15 seconds there where 5 worker waiting near the connection tube. the leader runs past them and through the tube in the arena. but not all followed quickly. |

experiment -> auslauf mit fremd duft -- area with smell of the other colony Date:7.12.001 die rechte kolonie hatte 2 monate lang zugang zum auslauf. nun riecht der auslauf nach "rechter kolonie"! ---- the right colony had 2 month access to the new area. now the area smells like "the right colony" LEFT COLONY zeit-time 14.21::start (connecting the area) 14.39::eine im verbindungs-rohr -- 1 worker in the connection tube 14.49::2 im verbindungs-rohr -- 2 worker in the connection tube 15.15::eine im verbindungs-rohr -- 1 worker in the connection tube 17.02::eine im verbindungs-rohr -- 1 worker in the connection tube 17.30::eine im auslauf -- 1 worker in the area (blue) 18.15::eine im auslauf -- 1 worker in the area (blue) 19.55::10 worker 20.15::14 worker 23.00::10 worker 24.00::16 worker Notitz: obwohl diese kolonie in letzter zeit viele fluchtversuch unternommen hat sind recht wenige in die arena. die fluchtversuche waren schon dramatischer. zuerst duch das gipsnest da sind mehrere hundert geflüchtet und haben sich unter dem nest verschanzt. von da an flüchten sie dauernd. auch über den wassergraben! darum bin ich erstaunt das so wenige in den neuen auslauf sind. Note: members of this colony have escaped often in the last 2 weeks. first through a hole in the plaster nest, then also over the water ditch. so they need more space. thats why i am astonished that only so few ants went out to explore the new area. they have done that with half of my room only a few days ago.. | |
